We had the pleasure of speaking with Alex, elected Mr. Fetish Berlin 2026 in the very first edition of the contest. Previously known as Mr. Leather Berlin since 2010, the title entered a new chapter in 2026, becoming Mr. Fetish Berlin to reflect better the openness, diversity, and many facets of Berlin’s evolving scene
A fitting change, as Alex represents exactly that modern spirit: proud, playful, socially aware, and committed to community. In this interview, we talk about who he is, how fetish fits into his daily life, and why participation matters more than ever. We also discuss visibility, education, and the role poppers play in the scene, including his suggestion for the best alternative..
Alex speaks openly, directly, and with the kind of confidence that comes from experience. He shares advice on living your fetish life with less self-restriction, finding like-minded people, and why the future of the scene may be brighter than many think.

Support by Participation
Q: Congratulations on winning Mr. Fetish Berlin 2026. What motivated you to apply to Mr. Fetish? And how has your life changed since winning?
A: Thank you so much! Well, my major topic is “support by participation”, this is why I applied as well. All of us should go participate to our best possibility and support infrastructures as good as we can. Financial and political conditions may become more difficult, so it depends on us to maintain our culture.
The race until I won the title already changed the way people approached me, so I slowly grew into it, besides I was not that unknown before. So, not that much has changed in the few weeks since, and I hope besides more duties, that my social environment continues to support me, helping me maintain my stability.
Q: What does a day in the life of Mr. Fetish look like? And what does the night look like?
A: My days are routine at the office. Nightlife is a bit less under my own control, considering just few weeks passed since I got elected, people still approach me, congratulate me and want to give me a hug. Right now, it is much more socialising than doing the weird things.
Q: You are openly a puppy. Does Stompee bring out a different side of Alex?
A: Not really, I have gone from dog play to wolfing to modern puppy play, always with my BDSM background. Modern puppy play gives me a certain freedom to indulge in my inner child. The hood seems to make other people react more relaxed, while I act goofy. I would also like to remind of the magical aspect of fetishes as well.
Fetish as Communication, Not Costume
Q: From your point of view, how important are clothing, accessories, and tools in fetish?
A: Clothing transports a message, and it suggests an idea. It supports invitation and initiation of interaction. Let us call it non-verbal communication.
Q: What do you think is the most misunderstood thing about the fetish community?
A: Fetishes are often reduced to latex and leather or specific sexual interests, forgetting that anything can be a fetish and that fetishes are widely used and acted out. Ignorance to what a fetish can be may lead to narrow-mindedness and blindness to someone’s reality.
Q: You not only show pride in your own fetishes, but also advocate for defending all others. What made you realize the importance of living your fetish to be a better person?
Poppers, Pleasure and Practical Advice
Q: From your experience, what role do poppers play in the fetish community?
A: The aroma can be detected in various situations and locations; I think it is widely used.
Q: Do you have any rituals when it comes to poppers?
A: No, but I recommend proper hydration, no solo play, never mix it with other substances, air out your rooms after, and keep them away from lit cigarettes, flames, and other ignition sources.
Q: Do you have a favourite brand or formula, or do you use any popper tools?
A: No, but I recommend using an inhaler and cotton sticks to avoid skin irritation while using poppers.
Q: What is your advice for the best poppers experience?
Find Your People and Get Your A** Off the Sofa
Q: You have a very positive and informative approach to fetish. Do you think that is something that sometimes is missing in the scene?
Q: Due to general misinformation, a lot of people have difficulties in talking about their desires. What would be your suggestion for getting that conversation started?
A: My entrance into fetish life and scene had been before the internet. So, I do not understand why people cannot find their ways into communities. The information is out there, printed, digital, workshops, information centres.
Please use the offers! Ultimately, you must get your ass off the sofa.
Q: You refer to fetish to connect. What could help those with a fetish realize they are not alone and that they are already part of a larger community?
A: If you view your fetish as a hobby and recognize the similarities between the different areas, you might feel more comfortable participating in events or connecting with others. This also applies if you live far from the centres of the fetish scene. Plan your free time accordingly.
The Future Is Younger and Growing
Q: What do you think the fetish community could benefit from most right now? What is still missing, in terms of community and politics?
A: Mindfulness and recognition! If you consider formal dress, flip-flops, underwear or spandex are widespread fetishes, fetish is more in daily life than most people would consider. Some are just more hidden than others.
I never understood why some clothing like latex is seen as perverted while leggings in animal print are suitable for work. Politics bears the responsibility for a safe life under all conditions; there are no compromises on this issue.
Q: You are very active in the fetish scene. What trend excites you most now?
A: I honour that so many young people are interested into the different aspects of the scene. The scene is not dead at all, this does not only include sexual but as well social aspects.
We regain part of our culture with the wide span of ages and experiences that got depleted a lot during the AIDS crisis.
Q: And finally, what tip would you give a young Alex, or any young person who wants to get in touch with their fetish side?
A: Step out of your own shadow earlier and do it with confidence.
A Strong Voice for the Modern Fetish Scene
A: Thank you for your interest! *wouph*
Alex represents a modern understanding of fetish: open-minded, socially aware, playful, and rooted in community. He reminds us that fetish is not something limited to latex, leather, or sexuality alone; it can be expression, identity, communication, creativity, and connection.
What stands out most is his message of participation: scenes only survive when people show up, support one another, and create spaces where others feel welcome. Whether speaking about education, confidence, or simply finding your people, Alex shows that fetish today is as much about human connection as it is about desire.
Thank you again, Alex, for your honesty, your humour, and for letting us into your world.
